Our Services

Translation services are the transition of one piece of text expressed in one language into another language. During the translation process, a professional with the knowledge of two languages takes the words, context, and cultures involved in a document and puts it into another language in order to reach new audiences.

Translators are experts in certain subjects or industries. This specialization gives them enough background knowledge to capture the meaning of a given text and translate it most accurately into the target language.

The experts who work at GITS have a degree in linguistics and are specialized in their subject matter, so they have refinement understanding and global comprehension that improve the quality and accuracy of their translations.

Below there follows a list of the services we provide together with a brief explanation about each of them:

Translation

Translation (#t9n) is an activity in which the meaning of a text is rendered from one language into another language. The purpose of translation is to convey the original intent of a message, considering cultural and regional differences between languages.

Multimedia Localization

The aim of localization (#l10n) is to give a product or service the look and feel of having been created specifically for a specific locale. It consists of adapting the design and layout to properly display of the translated text, changing formats for date and time, addresses, numbers, currencies, etc. for specific target locales, and adapting graphics and content to suit the expectations and tastes of a target culture.

Editing

It is the process of selecting and preparing written, visual, audible, and film media used to convey information. The editing process can involve correction, condensation, organization, and other modifications performed with an intention of producing a correct, consistent, accurate, and complete work.

Proofreading

It is the process of reviewing the final draft of a piece of writing to ensure consistency and accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting. Proofreading should always be the last step taken in the translation process as it is the last possible opportunity to revise a document before it is printed and published.

Transcription

It is the process of converting speech in an audio file into written text. That could be any recording featuring audio: an interview recording, academic research, and a video clip among others. There are two main types of transcriptions which are named verbatim and non-verbatim. The verbatim transcript will include every word found on the audio file and put it into text, exactly as the words were spoken. Non-verbatim transcriptions exclude any unnecessary speech so that the transcript becomes more readable and less repetitive.

Subtitling

It is the art of translating one video language into another through written text subtitles. It is a complex process of adaptation of the film dialogues to a written code within a whole set of parameters including space limits, rhythm of speech, register, and many more. Subtitle translators work across a range of genres to keep a structurally sound translation to ensure video sync.

Linguistic Quality Assurance

Linguistic quality assurance, also called QA review or QA evaluation, is performed to identify errors ranging from simple, such as multiple spaces and spelling errors, to those which are harder to spot, such as missing terminology, inconsistent translations, or fuzzy matches confirmed without any post-editing.
